Enrichment and the Wider Curriculum
At Cox Green School, education extends far beyond the classroom. We believe every student should have the opportunity to discover new interests, develop their talents and build the confidence and skills they need for life beyond school.
Our wide-ranging Enrichment and Wider Curriculum programme complements our academic curriculum and Personal Development provision, giving students opportunities to try something new, pursue existing passions and become active members of our school community.
Something for Everyone
Our enrichment programme reflects our school values of Be Respectful, Be Kind and Be Determined, with a diverse range of clubs, activities and opportunities available throughout the year.
Students can take part in activities including:
- Sport and fitness
- The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
- Music, drama and art
- Academic enrichment, including subjects such as Classics and Biology
- Leadership and mentoring opportunities
- Wellbeing and community projects
Our enrichment offer is regularly updated, with details of current activities shared with students and families through the school newsletter.
Celebrating an Inclusive Community
We are proud to offer groups that celebrate and support the diversity of our school community. These include Qmmunity, Unity, Wellbeing Ambassadors and our Anti-Bullying Group.
Students involved in these groups play an active role in school life through assemblies, lunchtime activities, peer mentoring, awareness campaigns and other projects. These opportunities allow students to have their voices heard while developing confidence, empathy and leadership skills.
Student Leadership
Leadership is an important part of life at Cox Green.
Our Junior Student Leadership (JSL) team provides a strong student voice across the school, with students from all key stages represented and supported by our Sixth Form Head Student Team.
Students in Years 11 and 13 also have the opportunity to become Prefects, acting as positive role models and representing the school at events both within Cox Green and in the wider community.
These experiences help students develop responsibility, confidence and a strong sense of pride in their school.
Our House System
Our House system brings students together through friendly competition, teamwork and a shared sense of community.
Throughout the year, students can participate in a programme of events spanning different subjects, interests and activities. This gives everyone the opportunity to get involved, represent their House and develop new skills.
The programme also includes regular charitable activities and fundraising events, encouraging students to support local and national organisations through fundraising, donations and community initiatives.
Sixth Form Enrichment
Our Sixth Form students have access to a dedicated enrichment programme, providing further opportunities to develop skills and experiences beyond their academic studies.
Activities can include volunteering in local primary schools and care homes, sport, cooking, debating and a variety of other opportunities.
The programme encourages students to broaden their experiences, contribute to their local community and develop the skills that will support them as they move into higher education, apprenticeships and employment.
