The Tutor Program
All students are part of a tutor group. The form is like a family. Students have a 15 minute tutor time first thing in the morning. There is a program for tutors to follow which includes house competitions, JSL (Student Voice) time, reading, wellbeing, maths, academic mentoring and a weekly assembly. Students therefore have something purposeful to be doing whilst tutors can check up on students, look at the values cards, attendance, behaviour, academic progress and celebrate positives with them. The program allows them to develop skills and knowledge in key academic areas as well as a broader understanding of important issues such as British Values, Protected Characteristics, First Aid and mental wellbeing.
The tutor is the first point of contact in the day for students in school and they should be that first point of call for celebrations and any issues. This is for students and parents. The head of year, SAFE and the SLT link to the year provide additional support as appropriate.
The tutor groups are named after our houses, Bannister, Churchill, Hawking, Nightingale, Parkes, Shakespeare and Winton.
