Name: Stephanie Boots.boot.jpg

Type of Trustee: Staff Trustee (support)

Date first appointed: April 2020

Committees/Special responsibility: Teaching and Learning Committee.

Background (employment, experience etc): At the end of the summer term 2020, I will have been a Progress Assistant at Cox Green School for 3 years. Prior to that I was an exam invigilator at the school for 5 years. I have also worked for 16 years at Hewlett-Packard, initially in Logistics and then 5 years in the Workplace Services department concentrating on Occupational Health & Environmental Health and Safety for UK service centre employees.

Why I became a Trustee: I have 2 boys that have attended Cox Green School - one currently in Year 12 and one is now at university. Both thoroughly enjoyed their time academically and socially at the school. Since working as a Progress Assistant, I can see the amazing, dedicated work of the staff towards the students but also the challenges which are faced. I feel I am in an ideal position, working closely with teachers and students, to positively contribute to the Board of Trustees as a member of staff and a parent.

Background (employment, experience etc): I Worked as a Course Leader in Further Education and have a Masters in Journalism and Degree in Business and Law.

Why I became a Trustee:  I would like to create a positive change in education, using my skills and knowledge as a teacher/course leader. I have worked in the Further Education sector with colleges that have faced ongoing challenges. I was teaching long hours while also dedicating some time towards completing my QTLS and researching subject areas for my lectures. These experiences have given me the motivation to want to help schools and colleges. Working as a Trustee will not only give me the opportunity to help Cox Green, but it will enable me to compile PhD research that will help colleges on a larger scale.
