History Department Achievements

The History Department is proud to be an extremely popular option at GCSE and A Level. The large cohort of students achieves well in History, with over 25% of students achieving a level 7-9 in History in 2022 and 75% A*-C at A Level.

To further develop capital culture, History offers students a range of experiences outside of the classroom environment. These opportunities are designed to develop students’ learning experience and their cultural understanding of the world around them.

Past experiences have included GCSE trips to Berlin and Auschwitz, where students explore the rich and powerful History that is centred life under the Nazi regime and throughout the years of the Cold War. At A Level, students have the opportunity to meet experts in the fields of British warfare, enriching understanding of famous battles like Waterloo.

In addition to out-of-school activities, the History Department runs a KS3 History club. This is a club for students to engage with extra reading, participate in historical debates and study topics beyond the national curriculum to deepen their enjoyment and knowledge of history further.

Finally, the History Department leads the school remembrance service – guiding the Cox Green community to commemorate the fallen soldiers of conflict.
